SMART Recovery is a Self Management And Recovery Training group grounded in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is described as an evidence-informed recovery method that supports people with substance dependencies or problem behaviors in building and maintaining motivation, coping with urges and cravings, managing thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and living a balanced life.
The meeting is open to all UCF students, faculty, staff and community members. The group focuses on the addictive behaviors rather than the substance, which the venue says makes it suitable for any problematic or addictive behavior, including but not limited to alcohol, drugs, gambling, tobacco and eating disorders.
The group meets regularly, excluding campus closures and holidays. More information about the meeting format is available through SMART Recovery.
